With my 30+ years of IT experience, I have seen Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems have been the cornerstone of business operations for decades, integrating critical functions like finance, HR, Planning, supply chain, Manufacturing and customer management. I am seeing various article suggesting bringing entire business logic into the AI layer – kind of replacing ERP business logic layer with AI. However, rather than replacing ERP’s business logic layer, AI is poised to coexist with and complement it, creating a powerful synergy that drives business innovation and efficiency.

1. ERP as the Foundation, AI as the Enhancer – ERP systems provide the structured data and operational framework that businesses rely on for years. AI, on the other hand, brings advanced capabilities like machine learning, natural language processing, and predictive analytics.
